The Hart House Underwater Club’s tradition of Winter Talks continues, with our 3rd annual Winter Lecture series.

This year, we’ll focus on underwater photography, with something for both the amateur and the avid shutterbug. Both talks are free and open to all who are interested.

Diving In: Understanding Underwater Cameras and Photographic Techniques

Underwater photography presents unique challenges. Capturing colours, creatures and feeling of the undersea world requires a very different approach, and a rethinking of some basic photography skills. Aimed at everyone - from beginner to serious hobbyist - the interactive discussion will include tips for buying cameras, and how to adjust both your camera and your approach to picture-taking for beautiful results.

The Digital Darkroom: Making the most of your underwater photos

Many of the elements that make the underwater environment so alluring -- the deep blue, the marine life, changing light and complete freedom of movement -- can also make it challenging to capture exactly the image that you'd intended. Key image editing techniques will be introduced to help you quickly get the most out of your underwater digital photographs. You’ll learn how to get satisfying results out of free and professional software tools alike.
